THE MARCHE REGION
Amidst the magical Conero-Riviera rises the 500 metre high Mount Conero with its Nature Parc. In the north-east are located beautifull bays and at the south slope of Mount Conero you´ll find gently sloped beaches, at one of them is situated our residence & holiday bungalows. Even the Italians are convinced that the Marche is a particularly beautifull region of Italy. Writer Guido Piovene wrote in his “Italian Journey”: The Marche are a “distillate of Italy”, given that in the Italian Marche are located all kinds of landscapes within a small area – from the Appenine mountains to the golden beaches of the Adriatic coast. Even at the DamaBlu residence our guests are surrounded by a variety of different landscape types: with the Adriatic sea only a stones throw away and the gentle foothills of the Appenine at our back.
Just at a 15 car minute distance lies the basilica of Loreto, famous place of pilgrimage of the “Black Madonna of Loreto”. Some historians trace its history back to pre-christian religions – due to its dark skin colour, reminding of cultures praising an earth mother goddess.
In less then 30 minutes by car you arrive at the centre of the seaport of Ancona, whose Roman amphitheatre and majestic romanesque dome are worth a trip. Ancona, the Marche regions capital is also very interesting for a shopping trip and to eat out in a nice restaurant. If you drive towards west, into the Italian Marche`s heartland, you´ll arrive at the impressive medieval castle of Offagna, location of one of Italian Marches most important historical event.
About 30 - 40 minutes by car north-west of our-hotel-residence are situated the famous towns of Urbino and Montefeltro, cradle of the European Renaissance. At a comfortable highway drive you get to Ascoli Piceno, capital of the south Marche province of Ascoli Piceno. Within an hour drive you can see its great travertine-stone-architecture and admire the antique city towers, built into the steep banks of Ascoli`s Tronto-river.
