FRASASSI
When the stone, in total darkness, fell down, the spelunkers hold their breath, because the seconds, that the stone needed to arrive at the ground of the cave seemed endless. That was on the 27th september 1971 when the Frasassi-caves, the “Grotte di Frasassi” have been discovered – one of the most spectacular cave complexes of the world.
Today the caves are open for the public. Professional speleologists or guides offer walks through the caves of about 1 ¼ hours. Many visitors feel like walking in a world which is upside down, because the forms are so unusual there.
There are two particular cave walks at Frasassi which you might want to book: one of them is the “Percorso Azzurro”, where children from an age of 12 can participate or the “Percorso Rosso” for adults. In small guided groups this will be a real adventure, climbing along sometimes small lanes and exploring magical hidden caves, apart from the normal cave tour.
